Playboy Magazine was…
Playboy Magazine is still the elite American adult newspaper trying to sell over one million copies every month in the U.S., fifty-three years after its inaugural issue. Certainly Playboy magazine has realized the true test of time from its first concern in 1953 with none besides Marilyn Monroe whilst the centerfold. Despite getting barred from various places because of direct images of its female designs, Playboy magazines income continue steadily to improve.
Playboy Magazine was founded by Hugh Hefner (affectionately known as Hef) and Playboy Enterprises were formed by his associates who, Inc. Hef, initially desired to name his journal Stag Party, clearly targeting male visitors. Nevertheless, Stag Company had branded the name and threatened to sue Hefner and his colleagues should they proceeded to use the complex name. After discussing the situation they decided to consider still another name. The name was suggested by one of Hefs associates playboy, from the Playboy Automobile Company where he previously worked.
And so in December 1953, the initial issue of Playboy Magazine was published bearing number name, because Hefner wasn’t sure during those times whether an additional issue would be published. The first issues centerfold was a picture of Marilyn Monroe, which was originally meant for a schedule matter. But, regardless of the uncertainty on the second issue of the Playboy journal, the issue was sold out in fourteen days time. Actual revenue for the issue of Playboy were pegged at 53,991.
With the achievement in revenue of the first issue, Hefner and his associates managed to move on and published the 2nd issue. This time, Playboy journals official brand, that of a rabbit wearing a tuxedo bow tie was created. The rabbit was opted for to be the official mascot of the magazine for the animals playfulness, which is what the magazine was attempting to impress upon its readers.
Over time, Playboy Magazine has presented many celebrities including Marilyn Monroe, Drew Barrymore, Charlize Theron, Madonna, Belinda Carlisle, Tiffany, Shannen Doherty, Katarina Witt among other famous celebrities who’ve asked for the journal inside their most provocative poses and barest beauty. These celebrity versions were photographed by such significant photographers such as Stephen Wayda, Ron Harris, Russ Meyer and many more.
Another proof of Playboys achievement was the line of international country particular Playboy versions that arrived. Playboy International editions were printed in Brazil, Australia, Argentina, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong, among other countries.
Obviously, because of the nature of Playboy magazine, it had been not generally accepted in some of the more traditional countries. Most countries in the Asian have barred the sale and publication of Playboy magazine due from what is referred to as its lewd character and vulgarity that is contradictory to the values and norms of the people.
Throughout the 1970s, when Playboy magazine reached its peak, blood supply of the magazine dwindled down. This is attributed to the rise of new competitors in the adult magazine company, such as for instance Penthouse. The proliferation of adult movies also contributed to the decline in sales of the journal.
Currently, Playboy magazine will be run by Hefners girl, Christie who assumed the post of Chief Executive officer in 1988.
